Commercial Real Estate, Southeast United States
Originally from California with parents from Taiwan. I spent most of my life in Miami but now live in Ft Lauderdale.
After graduating from the University of Florida, studying finance, I entered into commercial real estate Dec 2000, joining Terranova Corp (Miami, FL) as a leasing rookie. Utilizing good processes which includes canvassing, networking and the usage of a CRM, I quickly became a top performing leasing associate for one of the largest 3rd party retail leasing brokerages in Florida (at the time).
Dec 2004, I joined Woolbright Dev as a senior leasing associate. The transition from a 3rd-party broker to an in-house leasing rep was seamless and the skills that propelled my success at Terranova did the same at Woolbright, a company which generate immense profits by turning around retail properties in less than 2 years.
After 10 years of strong leasing, I took a sabbatical. This lasted from May 2010 until April 2011. During this period, I traveled the world, picked up hobbies and refocused on myself.
April of 2011, I joined RAM Realty as a senior leasing associate. RAM developed both retail and residential from the ground up as well as operated portfolios of retail through their various funds. Where Woolbright's hold period was typically < 2 years, RAM had a 10ish year hold. I was assigned their most difficult to lease properties in SW FL, a market that I was completely unfamiliar with. Again utilizing my processes, within a 1 year period I was able to generate more leases than anyone else at the company.
Saglo has been my home since Aug 2012. The opportunity to shift gears from leasing to acquisitions was very appealing. I took 1-step backward to take 2-steps forward. Having a strong proficiency in Excel and a finance education helped me quickly grasp ARGUS. The leasing background provided unique insights on value-add opportunities to pursue or mirages to avoid. Since starting at Saglo, we have more than quadrupled our portfolio size, added 3rd party leasing & management and entered into many new markets for the company. The challenge with rapid growth is make sure that the human capital can keep up.
Outside projects that I pursued includes the co-creation of the South Florida Independent Retailer Awards, participating in Big Brother Big Sister and donating to charities that help the homeless and animal shelters.
